Like many others, Asees Kaur came to Mumbai with dreams in her eyes and hopes in her heart and made it in the industry with her sheer hard work and dedication. Despite having no contacts in the music industry, the young singer says that the industry welcomed her with open arms.
In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Asees reiterates, “Though I am an outsider, the industry has treated me well. People take a long time to bag their first song but within six months of coming to Mumbai, I got my first song. I am blessed and grateful; song after song, people have loved me even more. Right now, I am enjoying singing songs of all genres. Being accepted as a versatile singer is something that really means a lot to me.”

Exclusive interview! Asees Kaur on being a huge fan of Arijit Singh: He really inspires me
On the hot trend of remixes and remakes, Asees says, “I am a fan of the original music. I love singing new songs. People are talented enough to bring new and beautiful music. There is no need to remake or remix old songs. I was approached to sing the remix of ‘Tere Bin’ for ‘Simmba’ and I sang it because apart from the hook line, everything else was new. It was completely re-composed and re-written. It is a challenge to make the song that has already been released and already a hit, your own. So sometimes I really enjoy doing that too”.
Asees has chartbusters like ‘Akh Lad Jaave’, ‘Makhna’, ‘Panghat’ to her credit.
